Nanning Wuxu International Airport covers an area of 259.73 hectares. It was relocated from Nanning Airport in 1958 and put into operation in November 1962, with ownership belonging to the local government. The airport's elevation is 128 meters (421 feet), with a runway length of 3200 meters and a width of 45 meters, flanked by two 7.5-meter-wide taxiways. It can accommodate takeoffs and landings of Boeing 747 and similar or smaller aircraft. In October 2011, Nanning Wuxu International Airport undertook construction of a new terminal area and supporting facilities, designed to handle a passenger throughput of 16 million by 2020, including 13.6 million domestic passengers and 2.4 million international passengers, with a peak hourly passenger volume of 6,027, cargo and mail throughput of 164,000 tons, and 137,600 aircraft movements. Major construction included building a new 3200-meter parallel taxiway on the east side of the existing runway, second parallel taxiway sections at both ends of this taxiway on the east side, a 50-stand apron, a new terminal building covering 189,000 square meters, as well as office buildings, fire services, power supply, water supply, refrigeration, roads, and other auxiliary and public facilities. It also included air traffic control projects, the Civil Aviation Guangxi Regulatory Bureau project, on-site and off-site fuel supply projects, and the Shenzhen Airlines Nanning branch base project, with a total investment of approximately 6.88 billion yuan. The airport has two terminals: Terminal 1 (T1) opened in April 1998, with a total area of 25,885 square meters and a building area of 33,470 square meters, equipped with 6 boarding bridges, designed for an annual passenger throughput of 2.5 million and a peak hourly passenger volume of 1,000. It ceased operation on September 25, 2014, when Terminal 2 (T2) was put into use. Terminal 2 officially opened on September 25, 2014, with a design inspired by the Han Dynasty artifact "Phoenix Lamp" unearthed in Hepu, Guangxi. It covers 189,000 square meters over three floors and has 32 boarding bridges. Additionally, the airport is equipped with primary and secondary radar, weather radar, instrument landing systems, VOR systems, and modern facilities and equipment for air traffic control, meteorology, maintenance, transportation services, firefighting, rescue, water supply, power supply, drainage, and emergency response.
